Cherry Blossoms

On to my 3rd week of highish mileage and basically injury free! Did 111K, 117K and 128K this week and apart from a few twinges I've been running without pain. This and the fact the the warmer weather has come and the cherry blossoms are coming out, all makes me very happy.

I start my coaching with Tom (Tinman) this coming Monday and looking forward to this too!

Some photos taken after my run today.

With the purchase of a Garmin watch something I'm doing a lot of recently

  2. It's looking beautiful around your parts at the moment. It must be like running around a botanical gardens every day. And great work on the high mileage. It's good to hear the your body's holding up to it.

  3. Great trees - around here they're in full leaf at the moment - not a blossum in sight.

Good few weeks there. How does the coaching relationship with Tom work? Do you give him your goals, let him know how much time you have to train? How much give and take is there? Are you allowed to do short races?

  4. Forgot to say - great Garmin joke. That's why I circle my arm above my head, jog around in circles before starting a run, and turn on the Garmin and leave it on the car dashboard - so I don't look like an idiot.

  5. Nice work. I thought you were already seeing the coach and that was helping get past the injuries. Was it just rest that did it then ,or did I miss something?

  6. Jonathan, I think simply slowing down, keeping my HR between 122 -32BPM, on all my runs for a couple of weeks really helped me "get past the injuries" or at least it has be heading in that direction.

  7. Ewen I have told Tom what my next 2 races are, a 10K in late April and a full in late August, and told him how much time I have to train. He knows I want to PB and will try to have me do that but we will see how the next months training goes. He has given me a program to follow for the next 6 weeks and we will look at it every couple of weeks and he'll adjust if necessary.

I'll let you know as I do.
