Out with the old!

2010~2011

I'd like to say that this year has been one to remember but the truth is that when all is said and done and I'm drooling on my shoes in a nursing home it probably will rate somewhere between a cold/rainy half marathon and my first time with "Susan Charmers". Not telling which was more memorable but enough to say my High School girlfriend didn't live up to either her first or family names!

Yes, it's been a bit of a shocker. My Dad died in the first half of the year and later on that year on a trip to Australia I discovered that not everybody agreed with the old axiom: "Sons should always out live their fathers!"

In the running arena I reached and maintained a plateau that had me looking longingly at the podium like a three legged Lama would look at Mt. Everest!

Anyway let's just call it a "base building" year and I'll push on to 2011 with "expectation and hope!"

The same "expectation" I had when I finally got "Susan" alone. And the "hope" that the New Year turns out a whole lot better ;)

  1. Sometimes years are just crappy and there's no redeeming features to be found in them. Then you look at them just like you have - a base-building year. A learning year. Just hoping that the next one will be better.

  2. I'm expecting the temperature to be around 8 degrees. But anything can happen in Tasmania. It was snowing there this week and it's the middle of Summer.

  3. I'm confident that it will be a good year for both of us.

  4. Scott, first you’re a winner in my book, you have a beautiful wife and 2 fantastic kids.
Sometimes we can take the whole running thing 2 seriously. [I do]

I think if you follow MB’s plan to the letter your run fantastic in 2011.
I know losing your dad was very hard, I lost my dad when I was only 4, and to tell the truth I’m still trying to come to terms with it even now!
Maybe the best lesson in life is what ever happens try and keep positive, becauser getting negative will only drag you down!
Wishing you and family a happy and healthy new year, you need no more than that!

  5. Good post Scott. Like my mate Mr Loaf I'm sure you'll go all the way in 2011.

Now I'm off to look up Susan Charmers on Facebook ;)

  7. 2nd in the Townsville marathon followed by PB's at 5k and 10k - that's some base building year you've had Scott. I'm looking forward to your sharpening/peaking year. Have a good one!

Concentrate on the here and now. The future and past can look after themselves.

  10. To quote a good old 90's line "The only way is up, baby!"

I'm confident that 2011 is going to be stellar!
