Another day another T-shirt. Had a good half marathon today. A slow start as there was a fair crowd doing this marathon I reckon I lost 5 minutes in the first 10 kms because of the crowd and getting warmed up, it was 4 degrees and blowing some, but me second half was a pissa. Sure I ran close to under 40 mins for the second 10kms.

I got Freddy in my head 3 kms from home and ran my best finish for a half marathon I've ever done. I didn't hardly see any of the K markers nor was I taking splits just running how I felt and I felt good and better with every km after the 10K mark.

I need to lose some weight again and start with some upper body exercises but I can see no reason I can't chip away at my times this year. This and bit more consistency so as the song says "Don't stop me now!"

  4. Such a great time! And from the way you wrote about it, it was just a walk in the park too- despite the wind.

  5. Hey, great result! So you could have gone 5 mins faster, that would be a 1:25. Apply the old formula, double your time plus 10mins and that's your marathon time. That gives you a 3 houry :-)

    PS My favourite Queen song!

  6. OK I guess. How come you started down the back? Did you need an extra trip to the dunny because of dodgy black fish the night before?

I'm not as generous as skater Steven... I'll give you a 1:27:51. Might have been the day to listen to Freddy and run 21k back to the start.

  7. Good job! Good job! Good job! Good job! Good job!

You are happy with the run and that is all that matters. But seems you might have learned a lesson to get up closer to that damned timing mat.
I must admit, it is pretty hard to take splits when we are going at the speed of light. But you can't help what you are born with ;-)

Awesome! Can't believe that you did close to a 40 min second 10k! You must be on fire at the moment.... you'll be drinking beer at the end of Canberra before I'm finished!
