2:45:11 (net)

Had a good race today. Pretty much did what I set out to do and I'm good to go for a week or so rest and then back into it. I'll sum up this race next post and talk a little about plans for the future. Again thanks for keeping up your blogs your support in this way is invaluable.

I wish you and yours all the very best for the coming year.

I'll up load a short video I took, with my ipod, after the race today. This and the race splits tell almost the whole story.

Marathon splits by my watch.

1st 5k 19'27
2nd 5K 19'28
3rd 5K 19'08
4th 5k 19'09
5th 5K 19'02
6th 5K 20'26
7th 5K 20'33
8th 5K 19'34
last 2 and a bit 8'30

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  1. You came SOOOOO close to the sub-2:45! Congratulations, must have been a very good race and the splits look ok (apart from the slight slowdown between 25 and 35k of course).

  2. Yeah Thomas

that pissed me off so now I'm going to ignore the rest of the 2:40s and go straight to the 2:30s.

    That'll teach them ;)

  3. Brilliant race Scott! OK, so my prediction was out by 79 seconds, but we all can't be perfect all the time... you're just perfect most of the time ;)

Seriously mate, I'm very happy for you. I know how hard you worked for that 2:45, and by the look of it, something around 2:40 is on the cards for 2010.

Catch up with your more detailed report later. I'm off tomorrow for places where the Internet hasn't been heard of. Merry Christmas to you and the family, and enjoy your roast black fish with mint sauce dinner, followed by burnt pavlova dessert ;)

  5. Fantastic result Scott. You're a machine for churning out the steady fast miles. To top off the year in which you went sub-3 hours with a 2:45 is simply amazing. Who knows where you'll end up in 2010. Enjoy the break and burnt pavlova.

  10. I'm stunned Scott, totally stunned! That is a massive improvement! Payment (with interest!) for the hard work I'd say.

    Massive congratulations!

I'm so impressed that I'm lost for something (un)intelligent to say. I'll think on it and get back to you......
