Video of the last 400 meters taken by my son in slow motion. I felt like I was running this slow! Hard to finish off today.

can you show me how to find my split times on the website? I can't find it. I finished, but was undertrained and got a bad case of unidentified "foot pain" that I thought was Plantar Fasciitis, but it ended up not hurting at all during the race! Finished in 4:24 or so.

  3. Good on you Scott! Have been thinking about you today and wondering how it went. That's pretty good really (I mean, to me even one 5k split under 20 is bloody brilliant), off a less than ideal preparation. Plenty to take from that. Sub-2:40 for sure. Peter Kallio ran 2:30:52 at 50 and your talent is equal to his I'm sure.

  4. Thanks a lot Ewen! It means a lot for you to say that and not take the chance to rib me ;)

Check out the video, I don't look as bad as I felt.

  5. Congratulations on a very solid result, Scott!

Despite all your self-deprecating comments, I could not help but admire your beautiful running style after 26 miles.

  10. Great result Scott for a less than perfect preparation the fade over the last 10k was well controlled. If I could have that form and pace at the start on my marathon i'd be delighted.

Sub 2:40? No problem my friend.

  12. Nice to meet you at the start Scott. Great result. I finished in 3:47. Not too bad, not having run anything over 12km in the last two months, but the last 5km were pretty tough. Hope you get into Kyoto today.

  13. Great to hear from you Brendan. You know I watched you come in. I was yelling your name but at that stage nobody running is going to hear much of anything. Yes, that last 7K was tough alright! Is there a way I can keep in touch with you? My email is there on the top right hand side of my blog. Send me a message. All the best with you move to Sendai too.

  14. Great run Scott and thanks for the update so quickly! I hope you are recovering now...and planning the next one of course. I can't access the video on my ipad but will view it when I next log in at home.

I'm impressed with your consistency. Also I agree with Ewen - I can't even do 5km under 20...let alone so many of then strung together!!! Awesome run and you are getting great results from your hard efforts even if you don't live up to your own expectations just yet! *hugs* You certainly live up to ours!!

  15. Scott, thanks for the link, I was able to get it. I am bib #81211. With my injuries and poor training, I met my goal: first international marathon. Hoping to maybe do a lot better in Kyoto this spring. I had a lot of fun out there, even though I was on my feet 4:24. I took a lot of pictures, enjoyed the taiko drums, and was very pleased that I seemed to run my injury right out of my foot during the race. Amazing.
