HALF MARA PB
1:18:50
I'm happy with today's result as I went into this race a little lame, foot injury,(went to clinic yesterday and Doc said I had an overuse injury to one of the tendons running down the side/bottom of my left foot). I can run on it, have been for the last 3 weeks but it's sore, so I was happy to be able to pull out a PB and get a trophy just scraping into 6th in my age group.
Now it's time to get serious with my training otherwise I fear there won't be many more PBs. But for now I'll get back to killing myself with beer and fatty food ;)
Above, some photos from today.
I hope you're all well.

Well done Scott great PB.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your improvement curve over the last year shows that you are doing something right. Keep chasing those PB's, you're heading for Masters Elite level.
Good running there Scotty.
ReplyDeleteone bit of good advice is to do as much of your running off road, ie grass and dirt paths, i think it's one of the main reasons I'm still running after 17 years :]
Well done. Great Run.
ReplyDeleteIs there any stopping this man?
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's figured out a way to hide a cape inside a running singlet?
Just make sure you don't push that "over use injury" too much, I'd hate it to be your kryptonite!
Another race, another PB. You're starting to get boring Scott ;)
ReplyDeleteMust have been a high quality race if 1:18 only gets 6th, or was the age-group '35 - 99'?
Good photos, but not sure about the Ryan Hall arm-warmer one ;)
Congratulations. Under 1:20 is nice, under 1:19 is terrific. So you were cruising along at about a 3:44/k pace - that's impressive.
ReplyDeleteBut for God's sake, make sure the injury gets better and not worse.
That must have been a fiercely competitive race if 1:18:50 only yields sixth in your age group! But, so soon after your marathon a PR in the half is very impressive. Now take care of that foot before you get injured properly!
ReplyDeleteP.s. once again you and your new found friend got the finger salute the wrong way round :]
ReplyDeleteCongrats and enjoy the the post PB moment. Looks cold!
ReplyDeleteGreat PB. You are in top form.
ReplyDeleteListen to that foot though. And I think you have been doing some very serious traininng so far. Even if you just kept up that same level for a few years you would still improve. More is not always better.
Congratulations, Scott, on your PB! Well done.
