WHAT YOU NEED MY SON

Today marked six weeks of consecutive days running and tomorrows' run will bring this weeks total dangerously close to 150 kms. I'm stoked that I was able to of handled this sort of build up without any adverse affects.

I've been on a very healthy diet and my weight has come down to where I haven't seen it since I was sixteen. I believe that if I am at the same weight and fitness level I was when I was sixteen then I should be able to run as fast as I did when I was sixteen! Why not? Anyway I'll keep believing that until my old body collapses trying.

Next post I'll reveal the stats and upload a couple of before and after photos for the benefit of my throngs of female readers ;) And I'm going to open a competition on who can guess closest to my marathon time in Hawaii this March. The prise will be a souvenir from the marathon sent to the winner. The smart money would have to be on me breaking 3 hours but my history of choking and fuck ups will definitely spread the field and make a competition of it.

I'm going to upload a cover of one of my favorite songs when I was sixteen. It was while listening to this last week and powering along that I thought "Yeah I am sixteen again!"

  1. Live with danger Scott! You've got to surpass my 147k PB ;) Seriously though, that's a great build-up.

Looks like you're following Benjamin Button's diet - keep going and soon you'll be the same weight and fitness level you were at age 9. Perhaps an 'after photo' wearing a thong for your throngs of female readers?

    I'll try and defy history by putting a six-pack on a 2:55:52.

  2. That is certainly an impressive block of training. I'll leave my prediction for a little closer to the date.

On the day before my 16th Birthday, I ran a 10:08 3000m. So I don't think I'll be getting back to that sort of speed no matter what training I do.

As for the music, I was still getting over The Beatles breaking up and listening to Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Elton John. Not exactly The Dead Kennedys I admit.

Did you ever get the Download to work?

  4. "I believe that if I am at the same weight and fitness level I was when I was sixteen then I should be able to run as fast as I did when I was sixteen!"....
ha ha ha ha ha NO CHANCE.

Sorry i am a realist. But then again maybe you were a slow walker when you were 16??

Whatever. I just think you have done far too many kms and have started to hallucinate.

Take it easy before you break down.

I think if you make it to Hawaii you will run 2:54:49.

I'm still dazzled by your numbers for this weeks mileage...so i'll sign off now.

  6. Well, I could definately run a fast 5km when I was 16, but there was no way I could have run 10 km, so I still think I'm better now regardless of pace! Therefore, I think you must be on a different planet!

I'm going to leave my prediction closer to the start, but I have no doubt that sub-3 is going to happen.... as long as you aren't distracted by some bikini-clad Hawaiian babe and trip over!

I'm seriously impressed by your k's Scott.

  7. Hmmmm, I think the crowd there may get in your way just a bit so I'm gonna say 2:56.21.

'Holiday In Cambodia' from the 'Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables' album ... I have it on vinyl :) It was a pressie from my sister way back when. We dug it out and gave it a spin over Christmas whe she was visiting. Viva Las Vegas!

  11. Terrific to hear from you R2B. Start blog again mate. No this is a cover of the original I liked when I was 16. The release date was 1980.

The singer of this cover is good, even sounds like old "Jello Biafra." Besides I like the "Foo fighters" too ;)

  12. As another of your female fans I'm looking foward to the pics too!

I'll be betting on a definite sub 3 with the current build-up and that great performance in the half.

I'll leave my final predictions until closer to the day.
