Boston Marathon Training 2015 (building mileage)

I forgot to tell you I got my Bib # and corral place for Boston. Pretty near the front I think. My number will be 1169 and I'll go in the first wave 2nd corral. Than place should get me over the line within a few minutes of the official gun start. Anyone know anything about that?

  1. Tracking beautifully Scott. Remember it's better to line up slightly underdone rather than fractionally over trained or so I've been told (like I'd know!). One more big mileage week my friend. Don't do anything stupid or out of the norm either. No hand stands, mountain biking or other cross training craziness at this late stage. Stay relaxed and positive.

  2. That's a great starting place, but the danger is don't go out too fast. The danger will be greater since you will have clear running up near the front. Everyone will tell you this,so I will add my voice. Don't go out too fast!!!

  3. Thanks Mark and Bob. I was watching the LA Marathon last night (one that you've run well in Bob) and seeing Ryan Hall blow up was a great reminder of the dangers of going out too fast! While I will be hyper alert to that I still want to keep around my marathon pace so I hope to get a little fitter and lighter, still got 4 weeks.

  5. Also as Bob and Mark say...don't try anything new.....don't go out too fast. You of course know this but knowing and doing are not always the same thing. :-)

  6. Further to what Bob said - the downhill start is dangerous - don't use your conditioned quads there - save them for later!
I expect there will be plenty of faster runners in that corral so don't get dragged out like poor Ryan Hall - run your own race. I'm sure it'll be cool at Boston although the weather that time of year can be a bit Melbourne-like.
