Down to the last training month.

  1. I wouldn't worry if you can't do each workout exactly as planned. Just keep hammering away for another three weeks - the work will pay off .

  2. A long time ago I read somewhere how much your heart rate rises with each degree over a certain temperature and from memory it's pretty significant. If you're running at 30C with a high humidity it only makes sense that you'll have to slow down to keep your heart rate in a particular range. My guess is that in that last 5k your body was so overheated that it was just trying madly to cool down. And as for taking time off when you're not feeling great - better to do that then try to push through and end up overtrained. It's a fine line that competitive runners walk.

  3. Yes, Char's right. You're going to find it bloody difficult to do MP workouts in that heat/humidity. Heat training is 'poor man's altitude training' - paces are going to be slower. If you can get through it and fluke a cool day for the race you'll have a good one. Hang in there old son.

  5. Went out for my Sunday long run in a beanie and a wind breaker ... cursed myself for overdressing in 12C ... jealous? Not long to go now. All the best these last few weeks before Hokkaido. Don't overdo it.
