Taking it slow..

No speedwork for a couple of weeks, just slow paced mid ranged runs for me at the moment. I was pretty beat up after that last marathon. Looking back over my training schedule I'd only done 1 long run of 30 kms in the 10 weeks before that marathon. Mostly I was doing a lot of fast mid distance runs, like 20kms at sub 4:20 per K. Good for the half but they left me wanting in the full.

Anyway, going to have to really look at what I'm doing for my next marathon. In fact I'm in the process of writing a plan that I will show you all and hopefully get your advice on what looks good and/or what you reckon is missing etc.

In the time being have a look at this clip. I Really love Bob Marley and that line: "It'll make you rebel..............Against what?!"

  1. How about this quote attributed to Bob. "When the race gets hard to run. It means you just can't take the pace."

    Seen.

  2. Or the one: "Herb, he weren't takin' it easy when he won in Rome".

    Bring on the plan!

  4. In fact, it is 20 years ago today that BMW played in Sydney.

I saw him in Brisbane on the 19th April 1979 though. It was a fantastic concert.

I also remember Herb's run in Rome. Made his move with 700m to go I recall. Which was (and still is) unheard of in a big event 1500?

  5. That should have been 29 years ago today. Must get Sgt. Pepper's out of my head.

Bring on the plan - I need something new to add to mine and might steal some ideas!

I'm now playing Bob while I work late - nice suggestion for music.

  9. I hope you come up with a good plan Scott. The Townsville Marthon is not that far away. Never underestimste the benefit of the log run.

  10. The marathon sounded very painful and you made it to the end with some more knowledge about what works and doesn't work.

It will all come together soon.

  11. I have nothing pithy or intelligent to say, but I read your post and enjoyed it. Bob was brilliant. Glad you are enjoying your running. Looking forward to your plan. I can enjoy running vicariously through your training.
