"Malaysia Truly Asia"

Well just starting to settle into the holiday. We got ourselves a cabin on the sand and been enjoying swimming at the beach all day and eating tasty Malaysian and Indian food breakfast, noon and night. I truly love South East Asia and this place is the perfect location for a family holiday. I will post some photos when I get home.

As for my running I have been doing it on the beach in the mornings. Where we are staying, it`s on about 2km long strip of beach I`ve been doing laps of this coconut fringed white sand beach and it`s quiet the novelty. I have never ran on a beach before, well not along it, only ever down to the water to go for a surf. I`m sure you have all had this experience but I never have so I`m going to make the most of it and only run on the road once a week or so.

The exact location is Langkawi Island, do you know it, have you ever been here? I have been almost all over Asia but it`s my first time here.

Anyway back to the duty free beer and a afternoon nap, it`s too hot to do much else.

I`ll be in contact soon.

  1. Ahhhhhhh sounds like bliss. It's about time I had a holiday - I've been back at work for almost 2.5 weeks now ;-)

  2. My friend Little Mika, who lives in Singapore, has done Ironman Langkawi at least three times. So I know of it, but never been there.

Be careful running on the sand. Too much of it may not be a good thing.

  3. Sounds fabulous! Nothing like a cabin on the beach to make you feel relaxed and rejuvinated.

  5. Have an extra duty-free one (or two) for me Scott.

I like a bit of beach running (on the wet sand). The camber can be a problem... but I do remember a fantastic flat long beach in Queensland where I ran five miles out, five miles back. Nice.

  7. Warm weather. Running on the beach. Drinking beer. That's what I call a holiday!

  8. Thanks for your comments. I`ve taken up Steve`s advice and was back on the roads this morning. Found a flat one between rice fields and mountains on both sides.
That scene is hard to explain but picture a pink sunrise and bright deep green fields and you`ve almost got it. A couple of baby water buffaloes came up to see what I was doing that was cool as well.

Just got to make sure I`m drinking enough as when I was running this morning about half way through I thought it was starting to sprinkle with rain but it was just my own sweat splashing on me ;0

  9. Sounds terrific Scott. Wish we were there. Any beer would be good under those conditions.

  10. Sounds like the ideal holiday. Have never heard of Langkawi before but just out of interest my mum was born in Malaysia (her father went there as a surveyor). Enjoy!
