It is now 8 weeks before the Tokyo marathon and I think it would be better for me to go into this race 2 or 3 kilos lighter than I am now. I'm just a little worried that if I cut back too much on food I won't have the energy to do some of my high mileage weeks.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I find with the high mileage the wieght drops off. That's probably because my food intake doesn't change, I eat heaps no matter how much I'm running.
ReplyDeleteThat failing you can always try the Xmas "drink and don't eat" diet, I used to swear by it in my younger days :-)
Hmmmm, I'd be worried about dropping too much food - you may end up with less energy and ineffective training (but, then, what do I know, I just eat no matter what!). I agree with Tesso, the longer miles should help a lot.
ReplyDeleteMaybe just don't go for seconds of the sweets (like I tend to over the Christmas period).....
I don't agree with Tesso - for me, the wieght stays on, but the weight drops off.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to drop a bit quickly, go high protein (meat) and low carb for a couple of weeks. You'll feel terrible running on this diet though.
