Things are good, training is going to schedule. I'm really starting to feel like I've reached another level of fitness. I was running my own unscheduled 1K efforts today and did 3:17, 3:35, 3:19, 3:30, 3:16, 3:35, 3:19, 3:40 and finished feeling I could have done at least 3 more before slowing down. The thing that was different this time was that I was doing it relatively easy. Not that my heart rate reflected this cause for the fast ones it was near max, but I was doing those without busting a gut. I don't know if my heart rate is redlining and I feel like I'm not, if that is altogether a good thing? But it is a new development for me. We will see.

ReplyDeleteBut in my defence I just replaced one, little, speed work session with another, is that a crime ;)
Anyway I'm still taking it easy on my slower days, different from previous training, and that is definitely helping!

when she started training for marathons she said, she wanted to find out what the 'wall' was as everyone warned about hitting it, so in training she ran hard for 25 miles but still felt good, so she pushed on for another 4 miles.
She still felt strong but decided she didn't need to worry about hitting any wall in the marathon, as it did not seem to apply to her body!

ReplyDeleteYes, that was a good session. The hard/easy is a good idea. Makes 8 doable, rather than the usual 6 (usual by my club and usually recommended).
