Happy to say I completed my week injury free and with the number of Ks I wanted to run. At the beginning of the week my ankles/achilles on both legs were sore and I hobbled along on my Tuesday run. Still it seems that the more I ran the better they got and I completed a relatively easy 32K long run today in just under 3hrs with my heart rate not climbing above 145BPM.
The weeks total mileage was 85kms, which is high for me, I usually do between 40 and 60K per week, so my confidence is building that I can have a decent race in Tokyo, a PB of under 3:20:00 that is.
Well done. That's a big week! Injury free is alway good too.

ReplyDeleteJust under three weeks to go now. Hopefully after this week the taper will really kick in and you will start to enjoy the benefits of all your training as well as remain injury free.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the eating plan is also going well and you are feeling good. I haven't lost any weight but my eating habits have changed - I had a new salad last night, pumpkin and chickpea as well as a couscous and spinach salad. Usually I would just have the grilled chicken with baby spinach on the side and some tomatoes - quite boring really so I am enjoying the diet for it's diversity at the moment and not really noticing any reduction in calories.
I am curious, what do you do after a long run? Do you sleep for a bit? Have a big breky? Have a normal day with the kids? What goes?
Nice week Scott. I'm hoping that in a few weeks time I can emulate your perfomance in the long run department. Not sure though, as my HR climbs above 145 just thinking about it!

ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, I had a similar week last week. Just kept churning out the miles. Ran reasonably hard aerobic miles but nothing too intense and somehow I just kept feeling better all week. I logged about 110 km, but no real long run due to the half yesterday, so that is a bit of a concern.
That's promising Scott. 3:10 pace shouldn't feel too hard. The black grilled fish must be a good cure for foot problems.

ReplyDeleteScott - Bunbury has a marathon! It's on the 20th May. I'll be struggling through the half and I am looking forward to it!! If I can run it all it will be a bonus but at this stage I am hoping to just cover the distance. Very exciting! Bunbury's very beautiful. Could be a great opportunity to visit Oz.... Practice up on the accent!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic that you've completed such a big week and are niggle free. Maybe the higher kms suit you. I know I run better when I reach a certain weekly mileage (around 80k).
